All fiction, of course, except for the Palmer Raids, which were something of an extension of the Red Scare and a brand of xenophobia stoked by the Great War.  In 1919 and 1920, under then Attourney General Alexander Palmer, thousands of individuals were arrested, detained and in some cases deported, often for mere association with leftist organizations.

(Also, sources indicate moonshine burns with a much bluer flame, but that would have conflicted too much with the comic's warm palette.)
