"Bevo" was an Anheuser-Busch brand of "near-beer" produced here in St. Louis.  It enjoyed some popularity during the Prohibition dry-spell, in fact.  I guess I couldn't resist the irony of interjecting with it here (even though the chances are slim that any of the approximately four people on the planet who'd catch the reference actually read this comic.)
