I relied largely on the Thomas Kempland collection of J.R. Eike photos of old St. Louis as reference for the appearance of the Bevo Mill in the early twentieth century.  As a restaurant, it's a curious combination of class and kitsch and, as it turns out, it doesn't look much different now than it did then...except that it has recently closed.
